Informatics & Healthcare Technologies

Technology is leading the way in healthcare and are critical to the delivery of quality care (“AACN”, 2011). With the government implementing electronic health records (EHR) it is imperative that healthcare workers are able to keep up with new technology. Having worked in healthcare prior to EHR, I found it difficult to transition to electronic charting.  However, being technologically savvy aided in the transition. Being a part of an online educational program has assisted me in mastering this essential.

The health information technology project studied the differences in smart phones and applications available to providers that would assist in patient care. Smart phones are the leading innovative technology available to providers and the public today.

Simulation labs assist educators in teaching students vital components of patient care without anxiety of mistakes and are the future of clinical training for nursing students.

The Intravenous insertion and allergic rhinitis presentations shows the technological skills I have mastered during this program. Being able to use technology to teach students/patients is a critical aspect of being a nurse educator.
